Vienna · Recording and video

Audio and video recording for classical music.

Konzertsaal.at works in Vienna and takes a recording from the first costing through to the mastered result: players, hall, session supervision, engineering, editing and mixing. If you only need part of that, you only get part of that.

Three ways into a production

  • Complete

    Complete production

For works where nothing exists yet except the score. We read it, cost it, engage the players, find the hall, record, and deliver the master.

  • Technical

    Recording and post-production

For ensembles that already have a date, a hall and their players. Session supervision, microphones, editing, mixing and mastering, separately or together. Half-finished material we finish.

    Casting

Viennese orchestras, chamber ensembles and soloists, on modern or period instruments. We approach the players and draw up the rehearsal schedule.

Why we handle the organising

More

Recordings rarely fail on the technical side. They fail because the hall locks up at ten, because the viola player can't make the second day, and because nobody wrote down which take was the usable one.

All of that lands on our desk anyway. Whoever supervises the session needs to know how long the hall stays open and how much rehearsal time is left. So we take on the coordination rather than leaving it with the client.

Equipment

Overview

Microphones by Neumann, Austrian Audio, AKG and Oktava, plus four Sony ZV-1 cameras for video in 4K. Recordings reach CD and broadcast quality. Most productions need one engineer, and the rig takes about an hour to set up.

Origin

Konzertsaal.at started during the pandemic as a stage for musicians who suddenly had none: concerts were recorded and streamed. The streaming has stopped, the recordings stayed, and the present business grew out of them.

The firm was founded by the Viennese violinist Daniel Auner; since the summer of 2021 he has run it together with Damián Posse. Both are trained musicians who still perform; they picked up the engineering side at universities and in private courses.

Send us the score.

A PDF and two sentences about the project are enough. We read the material and come back with a cost range and a proposed date.
